Stock footage sites

As video content consumption continues to grow, marketing and design professionals have come under increasing pressure to produce video content that is professional, fast and competitively priced.

This trend has made stock video files very popular, driving the proliferation of a diverse range of stock footage marketplace websites to meet the needs of every project and budget.

Stock video websites come in all shapes and sizes and are an invaluable resource giving video editors access to thousands of easily available professional stock footage files.

This article highlights five great stock video sites, all of which we’ve used at Clipchamp or in our jobs before joining the startup world. We have shortlisted the five top stock video sites that we like, that are globally recognized and provide a great range of high quality videos for personal and professional projects.

Five Great Stock Video Sites

1. BBC Motion Gallery

The BBC Motion Gallery comes first in our five great stock video sites. The BBC Motion Gallery is a vault of quality professional stock videos. In fact, it contains videos of all kinds ranging from black and white clips to wildlife videos from the Amazon.

Additionally, the BBC motion gallery offers HD footage from high profile media houses among them CBS, BBC, CCTV and ABC. As The BBC Motion Gallery also sources footage from other leading broadcasters around the world the stock video quality is among the best available and the range second to none.

Some of the content you will find on the BBC Motion Gallery features exclusive vintage footage covering topics including natural history and the arts making this resource ideal for educational projects.

The drawback of getting stock videos from the Motion Gallery is that the price can be significantly higher in comparison to other services, but with the quality and range provided this remains one of our favourite resources for high quality stock footage.
