How to Compress Video for Use in Snapchat
So you have a great video, and you want to send it out through Snapchat. But taking a clip straight from your video and sending it via Snapchat can be a bit challenging. You will need to get your file ready before sending, and here is the fastest way to do so.
Compress video for use in Snapchat
Snapchat now allows you to send photos and videos straight from your camera roll. However, videos are limited to 10 seconds. As Snapchat only allows videos of up to 2.5MB to be shared, it is essential to compress your videos prior to sending. So how do you compress video for use in Snapchat?
1. Go to Clipchamp’s video compressor
It’s free to use for up to 5 video compressions per month.
Make sure the video you’d like to compress is available on your laptop or desktop computer. After signing in or creating a free account on Clipchamp, click on convert/compress to get started.
2. Select the video you want to share
You can drag and drop, browse or record your video on the spot.
3. Select the lowest resolution settings
The smaller the better to get below Snapchat’s video file limit. The best compression options to achieve this are “Mobile, MP4, low quality, and either 360p or 240p resolution”.
4. Trim your video
To get to the snippet of the video you want to share, click on Edit Video, then select the Trim button to cut down your video. Remember Snapchat only allows videos of up to 10 seconds length.
5. Process, then save your video
After trimming the clip and selecting the best compression output settings, hit the Start button and wait for Clipchamp to process your video.
Once finished, you can check the finished clip including length and file size and also play it to make sure it’s what you want to share.
Then, upload your video to Google Drive for easy access from your phone. Clipchamp includes direct uploads to your Google Drive.
6. Snapchat your video
Grab your phone and download your video file from Google Drive. Open Snapchat and swipe up to access your camera roll.
7. Send your video
You can now edit and send your video to anyone in Snapchat!
