What does the YouTube Shorts Create button do?
The YouTube Shorts Create button lets viewers make 15 to 60-second Shorts using video or audio from an existing YouTube video. Users can record, edit, add music, and text, and publish Shorts using the Create button without leaving the current screen.
Note that all YouTube creators don't allow their viewers to make Shorts from their content so make sure to find a YouTube video that does have the Create button below the title.
Where to find the YouTube Shorts Create button?
The YouTube Shorts Create button is available to all YouTube accounts using the YouTube app on iOS and Android. The button can be found in the toolbar under the YouTube video title.
Desktop users will not be able to see the Create button under a YouTube video.
How to make a YouTube Short using the Create button

Tap on the Create button under a YouTube video.
Tap the Cut button.
Select a 5-second video segment by dragging to adjust the slider. Tap Next once selected.
Record the rest of your video by holding down the red record button. You can record multiple clips up to 15-seconds in total.
Edit your video using YouTube’s editing toolbar to the right of your screen.
Tap on the Tick button when finished.
Preview your video, make any final edits, then tap Next to continue.
Add the details to the YouTube Short like a title, caption, tags, privacy, audience, and comments.
Tap Upload Short to publish.

Tap on the Create button under a YouTube video.
Tap the Sound button.
Select the sound timeframe by dragging to adjust the soundbar. Tap Done once selected.
Record your video by holding down the red record button. You can record multiple clips up to 15-seconds in total. Your audio will play in the background as you record.
Edit your video using YouTube’s editing toolbar to the right of your screen.
Tap on the Tick button when finished.
Preview your video, make any final edits, then tap Next to continue.
