If you have an iPhone or iPad, you probably like to take at least an occasional photo. But where do these photos get stored? Enter Camera Roll. It's likely an app you use often, even if you don't know its name. Keep reading to find out what this application does.

What is Camera Roll? 

Camera Roll is the app where your photos are stored locally on your Apple device.

Camera Roll is one of the simplest and easiest apps to work with when taking photos with an iOS device.

What are the features of Camera Roll?

Since it's an app you will likely use frequently to access your photos, it's a good idea to learn how to use it. Cameras Roll is fairly straightforward, but it has some hidden features. One can search, organize, and even edit photos using Camera Roll. You can even hide photos if you want. 

How to use Camera Roll

Camera Roll is simple to access on an iPhone through the Photos app. It's recently been renamed to "recents" within Photos. You can also access it through your camera app by tapping the bottom left button. 

You can even edit to some degree within Camera Roll. If you have a Mac, you can use the same Photos app to edit your photos with more options. 

When to use Camera Roll

While other apps may give you more advanced features, Camera Roll is excellent for quickly reviewing your work. It's also great if you're hunting down a photo you took a long time ago. Apple makes this easy by having a search feature. You can also scroll by months, days, and years. Because of the clean improvements, Camera Roll is one of the easiest photo storage apps to use.

What is the difference between Camera Roll and Photo Stream?

As you take pictures, you might notice they are being saved to two different places, Camera Roll and Photo Stream. The answer is simple. Photo Stream is the cloud version of Camera Roll.

When you take pictures, Camera Roll is where things are actually stored on your device. Photo Stream is where things are stored in the cloud,,d so you can access those images across devices. Normally, you have to manually allow Photo Stream in iOS.
