How to boost the volume of a video  

Step 1. Import your video with sound  

To import your own videos and audio, click on the import media button in the your media tab on the toolbar to browse your computer files, or connect your OneDrive.  

Note: Boosting the volume of your video will only work if your media file has audio.

Drag and drop your video onto the timeline.

Step 2. Increase volume with the audio tab  

Click on the audio tab on the property panel. Next, use the audio volume booster to increase your video volume up to 200%. Drag the volume slider to the right to increase the numeric value and volume. Your video sound will now be louder.

How to enhance voice in video 

Step 1. Import your video with voice, create a voice recording, or AI voiceover  

To import your own videos and audio, click on the import media button in the your media tab on the toolbar to browse your computer files, or connect your OneDrive. Drag and drop your video or MP3 file onto the timeline.

To create a voice recording, click on the record & create tab then click on the audio option. Follow the on-screen prompts to create a voiceover.

To create an AI voiceover, click on the record & create tab then click on the text to speech generator. Follow the on-screen prompts to create an AI voiceover.

Step 2. Enhance the volume of your voice audio  

Click on your MP3 file on the timeline, then click on the audio tab on the property panel. Use the audio volume booster to increase the volume of your audio asset. Drag the volume slider to the right to increase the numeric value and volume. Your video sound will now be louder.

How to adjust volume of stock music and sound effects  

Step 1. Select stock audio or sound effects  

Click on the content library tab on the toolbar, then click on the audio category. Search through the stock audio library to find the perfect audio to add to your video. Drag and drop an asset onto the timeline below your video.

Step 2. Adjust the volume of your audio  

Click on the music or sound effect asset on the timeline, then click on the audio tab on the property panel. Use the audio volume booster to adjust the volume of your audio. Drag the volume slider to the right to increase the numeric value and volume. Your video sound will now be louder.

How to mute specific audio in video  

If you would like to mute video audio or remove a specific word, phrase, or sound, use the split and mute tool on the timeline.  

  1. Click on the audio file or video on the timeline.  

  2. Move your seeker to the timestamp where you would like to start muting.  

  3. Click on the split tool (scissors icon) on the timeline. 

  4. Move your seeker to the timestamp where you would like to end muting.  

  5. Click on the split tool (scissors icon) again on the timeline. 

  6. Click on the cut audio, then click on the mute button. You can also right click on the asset, then click audio > mute, or turn down the volume to zero in the audio tab on the property panel.

How to decrease audio volume  

If you would like to decrease the volume of your video or audio track, just drag the volume seeker to the left instead of the right. Dragging to the left will decrease the volume and numeric value to 0%.  

  1. Click on your video or audio file on the timeline.  

  2. Click on the audio tab on the property panel.  

  3. Drag the volume seeker to the left to decrease the volume.

Can I boost the volume of my video for free?

Adjusting video volume is free for all users in Clipchamp.

What types of audio files can I edit the volume of?

You can boost the volume of any video asset that includes audio, or separate MP3 files like music, sound effects, AI voiceovers, audio recordings, and detached video audio.

How do I mute my video sound without muting background music?

If you have added stock background music to your video on the timeline, muting your video asset will not affect your music. Make sure your video audio is separate from your background music. Click on the mute button on your video asset to mute.

Can I undo video audio enhancing?

Easily undo any audio or video changes using the undo and redo buttons on the timeline. You can also return your audio back to the original volume by moving the volume seeker back to 100% volume.
