How to make a TikTok voice with Clipchamp
Step 1. Upload your video or create a new video
Clipchamp’s voiceover feature is free for all users. Start off with creating a new video in 9:16 aspect ratio. Either upload your existing video to the editor or create one from scratch inside the editor.
To upload your video or media assets, click on the import media button and select your media.
You can also use stock footage found in our stock video and stock images tab on the toolbar. Drag and drop your media onto the timeline.
Step 2. Create a voiceover effect with our text to speech feature
Next, click on the record and create tab on the toolbar, then click on the text to speech option.
The text to speech popup window will appear. In the text box, type in or copy and paste what you would like your voiceover to read out.
Here, you can choose from over 400 lifelike voices with a range of accents, ages, and even feminine, masculine, and neutral tones. Select a language like English, Spanish, Italian, Japanese, German, and many more, and find the right speed for the narration of your video.
Click on the preview play button to listen to your voiceover. We have selected the voice Guy, with a cheerful tone and extra high pitch to mimic a dog’s inner thoughts.
Once you select your voiceover features, click the save to media button to return to the editing timeline.
Step 3. Add your TikTok voiceover to your video
Drag and drop your new voiceover from your media library onto the timeline above your video.
Step 4. Edit your voiceover
If your voiceover doesn’t match up with your video, simply edit out the pauses in your text to speech or edit the speed. Click on the voiceover on the timeline so it’s highlighted green. Next, place your curser where you would like to split. Click on the split button.
Split your audio again and delete the unwanted section by clicking on the delete button.
You can adjust the speed of your voiceover using the speed controller in the property panel. The property panel also has options to edit your voiceover’s volume and the ability to add fades. Adding a fade in or fade out gives your TikTok video a more seamless start and ending.
Step 5. Save your TikTok video
Once you’re happy with your TikTok voiceover video, click on the export button. Select a video resolution to save. We recommend selecting 1080p HD for the best quality video for TikTok.
Click save video to computer or upload your video to TikTok using the TikTok integration.

Frequently asked questions
What are TikTok’s video specifications?
We recommend creating all TikTok videos in 9:16 aspect ratio, saving in 1080p video resolution for the best quality for social media, and limiting them to 5-seconds to 60-seconds in length. All TikTok video uploads must be MP4 and MOV files. If you’re creating a TikTok ad, TikTok also supports AVI and GIF files.
Why are my TikTok voice effects not showing inside the app?
TikTok doesn’t allow you to add their voice effects to videos not recorded in the app. If you’re trying to add a TikTok voiceover to your video inside the app and it isn’t working, make sure you’re recording your video directly in the app. We recommend creating videos with voiceovers in Clipchamp to avoid this error.
Why do people use TikTok voice effects?
TikTok voice effects allow creators to change their current voice to sound like absolutely anything. From chipmunks to robot voices and lower baritones, the options are endless. So, adding a voice effect to any video is one of the easiest ways to jump on a trend, level up your TikTok video, avoid missing viral opportunities, and entertain your viewers.
Can I watch TikTok videos without sound?
Yes. Viewers can watch any TikTok without sound on the TikTok app, so we recommend creators to add auto-captions to videos to make them more accessible.
Can I download my TikTok sound from Clipchamp?
No. Clipchamp does not let you download MP3 files. However, you can export your videos SRT file by using our auto-captions feature.
