One of the hazards of making videos on smartphones or tablets is the chance that your video will turn out sideways or upside down. No one likes having to crane their head to watch a video, so it’s good to know there’s an easy way to rotate video online for free!
Rotate video online with Clipchamp
Rather than downloading video editing software, simply use Clipchamp when you need to rotate your videos. By allowing you to edit your own videos completely online in their Create editor, Clipchamp can save you a lot of time and hassle.
Just follow this simple step-by-step guide for a quick and effective way to get your videos looking their best:
Step 1: Register a free account or log in if you’ve used Create before
If you already have a Clipchamp account simply sign in to get started. If not, it’s time to create an account. You can use your Facebook or Google account to sign in with one click, or else set up an account easily with your name and email address.
Step 2: Making a new project
Now you should be in Clipchamp Create’s project overview, on this screen simply click ‘Start a new project’ to get started:
Add a name for your project and select the aspect ratio that best suits what you’re working on:
Step 3: Adding videos to rotate
Now that your project is set up, it’s time to add content. Click ‘Add Media’ to import video files from your computer:
Simply drag and drop clips into the ‘Add Media’ window or click ‘Browse My Files’ to select them from your computer. Clipchamp works without the need to actually upload anything, so videos will be available to start editing instantly! It accepts a range of video formats so you can rotate MP4 videos as well as others such as WebM or MOV.
Step 4: Accessing the editing toolkit
The first video you add will automatically appear in the timeline at the bottom of the screen when it’s ready for editing. Select the clip in the timeline to highlight it and you’ll see a new window appear that looks as follows:
Step 5: Use the editor to rotate video online
Scroll down in that window and you’ll see options to rotate your video 90° left or right:
So, say your video is on the side, with the top of the video facing left and the bottom facing right, like this:
All you need to do is click the ‘90° Right’ button:
The bottom of your video will rotate down to the bottom of the frame, correcting the image.
Once you’re happy with the result, export the clip to save the new version onto your computer!
As you can see, rotating a video for free with Clipchamp is very easy – have fun with your project!
